Luckily, I bought a new top in the & Other Stories sale yesterday in my favourite colour, so that's brightened up the day already. This kind of blue is my favourite colour to look at, but I rarely find myself wearing. Anyway, I'm loving the shirt paired with some shiny silver accessories too - a very calming palette all round.

Chase Away The Blues
I guess I've not posted on here for months because I've been getting up ok in the mornings, but I'm feeling a little differently today. Not sure what's really changed so much but something is making me feel kind of rubbish.

Get Up, 'M' is for Monday & Maria Francesca Pepe
And 'A' is for Amy! I was so excited to receive my new Maria Francesca Pepe Ade 'A' ring in the post this weekend. A few girls in my office have them in different metals and I've been searching high and low on the internet for one, until I discovered that she has her own online shop where I found this!
It was a steal in the sale at just £14 from £46, and was the perfect pick me up this morning when I was struggling to get out of bed (it being Monday and all). You can also buy MFP on ASOS and Avenue 32, although you won't find any letter jewellery there...

Get Up, Go Ice Skating at Somerset House
It's Sunday and I'm going ice skating at Somerset House so getting up is by no means hard, nor does it require so much style persuasion to lure me out of bed as the weekday does. However the prospect of putting some of my favourite Winter accessories to their proper intended use does make it even more exciting.
These Snow Leopard Angora Cut off gloves and Faux Fur Trim Hooded Snood from Accessorize would literally be the perfect pieces to recreate this look and in fact I must bear them in mind in case one of my own mittens goes MIA on the ice...
I'm a huge believer that you can never have too many accessories (or coats) so it can take a while in the morning to decide which items to coordinate on any particular day, but this combination has always been a failsafe. The Topshop gilet was a sale steal a few years ago and the mittens and scarf are both from H&M - you know when you see something you just say to yourself "yep, that's me right there".
Its so easy to go down the fairisle route as soon as you feel the first Christmassy chill in the air, but this mix of patterns and textures has such a chic autumnal feel that I can just never resist.

Get Up, You've Got Your New Margiela x H&M Shirt To Wear
So if it wasn't reason enough to get up to go to the launch of Margiela with H&M, getting up to wear my new Circle Shirt from the collection certainly is. I had my eye on it since the first images were released and was overjoyed to see one on the rail waiting for me.
Beacause it's cold I'm wearing it with a long sleeve t-shirt underneath (suitably from H&M, where I always buy mine). We got exclusive Margiela notebooks and pencils last night as well, so I'll be taking them to work to complete the look.
The flagship Regent Street store was mobbed, I've never seen shopping like it in my life - people with armfuls of Candy clutches. Having picked up our pieces, my friends and I tried to enjoy what ambience existed in the chaos. The marshmallows that we got upon leaving were amazing though I have to say; if a brand had a taste that would be theirs.
I did actually get persuaded to buy another piece too - the Trompe L'oeil dress, but more of that another time... we can't get dressed in everything at once...

Get Up, You're Going The Margiela x H&M Launch Tonight
If there were ever a reason to get out of bed, Vogue's Maison Martin Margiela x H&M launch party is it. The invitation alone is enough to be excited by - a HUGE poster with the house's signature numbers in white lettering. I can't wait to put it on my bedroom wall as Get Up inspiration everyday.
I'm going to wear this Fringed Back Shirt from Warehouse, that I bought a couple of weeks ago and have been saving for the occasion. I'm such a a sucker for that sort of tassel detailing, especially when it's down the back like this one. Teamed with a pair of leather trousers like these from Topshop, I think I'll be good to go.

Get Up, Jil Sander Makes Monday Morning Better
I love white shirts and this Jil Sander one is possibly my favourite, as well as my best ever vintage find to date. It goes with everything, and the structure of wearing a shirt without doubt makes me feel ready for the day. Just look at how is serene it looks laying in the morning light, waiting to be worn...
This particular shirt I love to wear underneath a grey marl sweater, to give it a slightly casual edge that sometimes you need first thing on a Monday morning when you weren't quite ready to get out of bed yet. I bought my perfect sweater recently on sale in Gap, and I wear it with everything.
I'd recommend this Boucle knit from Topshop, or this amazing marl tunic from Uniqlo both a supreme choices for some 'I look ready for Monday but don't quite feel it' style.
So what are you waiting for? Get up, get dressed!

It's Time To Get Up
Welcome to Get Up, Get Dressed.
This blog wasn't created to help me develop my personal style, nor to ensure I dress according to fashion trends on a daily basis.
For some the day ahead is enough to excite them, for others an after hours rendez-vous entices them from the duvet. For me, choosing the day's outfit helps get up in the morning; I imagine what I'm going to wear and only then am I inspired to Get Up, Get Dressed.
